Team Building

Looking for a group event that would be out of the ordinary?

Sure, you’ve seen fencing at the Olympics but have you ever wondered what it would be like to experience it?

Fencing is the modern sport based on the ancient discipline of sword fighting. It teaches how to cope under pressure, it develops anticipation, timing and concentration - qualities crucial for any company or business. Also, it's great fun, good exercise and the most memorable experience which will stay with your team for years to come.

FORMAT

To get started, our head coach will give the group an introduction to fencing and its origins.

We then launch into some basic skills development including stance and footwork, posture, and how to correctly hold your sword.

While speed, agility and fast reactions are useful traits in fencing, precision, style and technical skill will have you clocking up points on the scoreboard.

COMPETITION

The group will divide into teams of 5-10 people to compete in a fun tournament focused on 1-on-1 matches.

Wireless electronic scoring devices record every point; registering on the scoreboard to ensure an accurate team tally.

SAFETY

Everyone is decked out to look like a true fencer, and ensure they’re 100% safe through the experience.

Wire mesh face masks completely cover and protect your head, a chest plate protects the front part of your body with fencing gloves and a jacket ensure you’re covered and safe.

Whilst the swords used are genuine fencing swords, they’re not sharp and fitted with electronic tabs to record hits.

FITNESS

Fencing requires both an agile body and mind, and has been described as chess played at high speed.

Each match only lasts 4-5 minutes, with players swapping to allow for adequate rest in between matches.

While the match area is only 4 metres long, it’s surprisingly physical so we suggest you bring a sweat towel and a bottle of water to keep hydrated.

VENUES

Fencing can be run indoors or outdoors, but does require a decent amount of space. If you don’t have a venue in mind we can certainly suggest a few that suit your group size and preferred budget.
